Contax: a playful brand for contact lenses

Contax is a brand that offers stylish, customizable contact lenses, and my goal was to create a logo and website that reflect its fun, modern identity.

Crafting a logo that feels modern & playful

I started with hand-drawn sketches, exploring different typography and geometric shapes to find a balance between clarity, playfulness, and brand personality. I explored over 10 sketches, experimenting with typography, font weights, and shapes, like circles symbolizing contact lenses, to refine a balance between readability, style, and brand identity.

I refined three designs in Adobe Illustrator, creating more than 10 variations each with custom typography and color experiments.

As a final design I selected the geometric sans-serif typeface BD Colonius, which has clean, rounded forms that complement the circular shape of contact lenses.

The final logo features:

  •  Connected "c" and "o" – representing personalization.

  • Gradient blue dots in the "x" – adding a vibrant, playful touch that highlights the product's customizable nature.

  • Bold, clean typography – ensuring the logo is modern and scalable for web and packaging.

Bringing it all together to a website

For the website, I focused on user-friendly navigation, a clear value proposition, and a fun, inviting aesthetic. My research on competitor sites and usability best practices helped me refine the structure.

  • F-pattern layout – guiding the user’s eye naturally through the page.

  • 9-grid color variation display – making it easy to explore different lens shades.

  • High-contrast CTAs – ensuring key actions (like ordering lenses) are clear..

  • Customer reviews & visuals – building trust and showcasing real-life product use.

I developed the website layout in Photoshop and implemented interactive elements like hover effects in Dreamweaver, allowing users to preview different lens colors instantly.

Takeaways and next steps

This project challenged me to think critically about branding, usability, and engagement.

I learned that:

  • a well-structured F-pattern layout improves user experience.

  • small details, like connected letters and gradients, reinforce brand identity.

  • interactive elements create a more engaging and dynamic website.

I would love to refine this project further with real user feedback, optimizing the mobile experience, and exploring more interactive features.
